He'd ask the audience to send in their favorite recipes to share with the audience and the SCN front office would be filled with great dishes. His mysterious "Mary Ann" had the listeners so intrigued that people who had received their clearing orders would drop by the station to ask who was Mary Ann. |

Joined the US Army in December 1962 where he attended basic training at Ft Jackson, SC and then attended Quartermaster school in Ft Lee, VA. He was transferred to Stuttgart, Germany with the 35th Quartermaster battalion where he served from 1963 to 1964. Mortimer planned to continue his education in Civil Engineering when he completed his tour of duty in the Army. |
