Rene and Joe were in the same weight division (176-lb) at Lackland AFB for the Interservice Championships to pick the US CISM Judo team. They went to Rio de Janeiro in 1973. Rene is a Dutch-Indonesian, retired in Holland, but now back in Texas. One of the best players ever in US Judo history. Many war stories on and off the mat from 1964 to '84.
