Gonzo was a mechanic at a
car dealership in Panama City...he also free-lanced in the street during
lunchtime. Shown here working on the electric fuel pump on the red MGB...it
took all his skill to keep that delicate machine running...by the way,
in case anyone forgets... gas at the PX was 26 cents a gallon...that was
for the high test to power the MG...reg. was 21 cents...

there was a
lottery, twice a week...many women sold tickets on the streets of Panama
City. you walked around and found the numbers you wanted to
play...somewhat different of a system than what's in use today |

everything was
always on sale at P. Jhangimal and brothers... right across the street
from the zone on 4th of July Ave...they sold local crafts and furniture,
cloth-overlay "molas" from the san blas islands, and of
course, cameras and stereo equipment. when you went there, you got a
stool to sit on (and bargain from) a cold coca-cola, and usually, a good
deal. |
