2town.JPG (43614 bytes) this is typical small-town central America. Probably like our "old west of the 1880's. This is either in north-western Costa Rica, or Nicaragua.

2horses2.JPG (40250 bytes) Some locals in a small village, probably in Nicaragua, with their version of the "Volkswagen." Note as well, the bricks in the wall of the building in back...they appear to be hand made from mud and sun-baked.

2citysign.JPG (76304 bytes) This is a street scene from San Salvador, the capital of El Salvador...not the companies' signs we're all familiar with... shell oil, ford, and even "one-hour martinizing."

2men.JPG (43112 bytes) this group was standing at what must have been a bus stop in the highway in Guatemala. Note the ice cream vendor in the rear. Despite the political unrest that plagued the country for years, the people are happy and smiling... we felt welcome there...note the obvious Indian heritage evident in the features of the people.

2horsebar.JPG (38394 bytes) this is the Guatemalan version of "Joe's corner bar." One can't help but thinking when looking at all the horses if it's possible to be charged for "riding under the influence."

2waterlady.JPG (17726 bytes) It was quite common to see people living in nothing more than a hut that consisted of 4 poles and a thatched palm roof... of course there was no plumbing. This is how water gets moved... and who says that it was u.s. marines that were called "jarheads."

 2water.JPG (55132 bytes)

this, I guess, would be the Guatemalan version of a pipeline. its worthy to note that one could not see where these ladies were getting the water, nor could one see where they were taking it... so it must have been a considerable trek.
