shot from Ancon
hill, at night. on the top left you can see both Miraflores locks, Pedro
Miguel locks, and the lake. because of the foreshortening of the telephoto
lens, the changing sea level from lock to lock is clearly visible. |

view of panama city
from ancon hill, looking in the direction of the Hilton. on the top right
you can see bits of the road along the bay... (avenida Balboa???)

looking toward the Thatcher ferry
bridge...note the streaks of light: on the bridge, in the canal and on the
road going through Balboa. since this exposure was about 20 seconds, those
are objects, cars and boats, moving through the scene. Dec '69. |

1968 night photo of the station
note the clothes hanging from the
poles on the ceiling.. .this was done to avoid mold growing on them.

pulling into one
of the northbound chambers of the Miraflores locks... this was a July
1970 pre-dawn transit aboard the MV Toyota Maru... it carried Toyotas
from Japan, and coal, iron ore or other bulk cargo on its return. |

This view is
looking toward the bay and Avenida Balboa... and everyone's favorite
restaurant, "La Pampas." the streaks are cars moving during
the 20 second exposure time. |
